Ha Long Bay, Vietnam
Where’s the most beautiful place you’ve visited? Send us a note through Tumblr and let us know!
Travelers who venture east of Hanoi, Vietnam, towards the Gulf of Tonkin will discover Ha Long Bay, a natural wonder made up of over 3,000 islands that rise out of the emerald sea. Legend has it that a dragon living in the mountains stormed down to the coast, swinging its tail to form valleys and crevasses, before diving into the sea, filling the area with water and leaving only the peaks visible.
A World Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay is one of the most picturesque places in the world. To get a better look, visitors take boat cruises around the towering islands and pass by floating fishing villages, where locals reside in floating houses. View more photos from this natural wonder on the Ha Long Bay location page.
